In response to recent changes in New Zealand's loyalty landscape, a comprehensive review of the AA Smartfuel programme has been conducted.

As a result of this evaluation, it has been officially announced that the AA Smartfuel programme will be permanently discontinued, with the end date set for 11:59pm on January 31, 2024.

This means that customers using the AA Smartfuel programme will have until the end of January 2024 to earn and redeem their discounts.

Any AA Smartfuel discounts earned during the month of January 2024 must be redeemed by the end of that month.

Until the discontinuation date, the AA Smartfuel programme will continue to operate as usual, and customers can continue to enjoy its benefits at all participating retailers, including BP, GAS, and Countdown.

Scott Fitchett, Managing Director of AA Smartfuel Limited, expressed his gratitude to members for their loyalty over the past twelve years.

He highlighted the programme's success, stating, "As one of New Zealand's most popular and successful loyalty programmes, myself and the AA Smartfuel team are immensely proud that our partner village of more than 1200 retailers has helped Kiwis earn over one billion dollars in fuel discounts."

This decision marks the end of an era for AA Smartfuel, a programme that has played a significant role in helping Kiwis save on fuel costs for over a decade.

AA Smartfuel is a joint venture between The New Zealand Automobile Association Ltd and Smartfuel New Zealand Ltd.

The AA has announced that they will reveal plans for their members in due course, offering insights into what the future holds for loyal customers.
