A fire raged through a derelict property on Rawhiti Road in Manly this afternoon.
Around 2:39 p.m. multiple emergency calls flooded the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) headquarters, reporting a devastating two-story house fire.
Witnesses described the fire as "fully involved," which means the flames had engulfed the entire structure. The fire crew chose an external attack strategy in their valiant efforts to put out the fire. Positioning themselves outside the burning house and directing streams of water to extinguish the flames was part of this strategy.
Six fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. Despite the firefighters' best efforts, the fire remained uncontained as of 3:15 p.m.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.
