Auckland has been named one of the top 10 most liveable cities in the world according to the 2024 Global Liveability Index by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
The city received high marks in healthcare and education, contributing to its favourable ranking.
The EIU's Liveability Index evaluates 173 cities globally based on 30 indicators across five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.
Auckland's overall score reflects strong performances in most categories, ensuring its place among the world's best cities to live in.
This year’s top spot went to Vienna, Austria, for the third consecutive year, with perfect scores in stability, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
However, several other cities, including Melbourne, Sydney, and Vancouver, experienced declines due to issues like housing crises.
Auckland’s continued high ranking highlights its quality of life, despite some global cities facing challenges.
The city’s robust infrastructure and commitment to healthcare and education play significant roles in maintaining its position.
The liveability ranking offers insights into the best and worst living conditions worldwide, providing valuable information for expatriates and companies assessing relocation options.
