Auckland Zoo's Australia Bush Track Now OpenAdult Cunningham's skinks at Auckland Zoo.

The Auckland Zoo's Australia Bush Track has reopened after undergoing significant upgrades, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience this summer.

Locals and their families can explore the revamped habitat, featuring an expansive new 4m high enclosure for rock-dwelling skinks and arboreal dragons.

This new habitat is already home to 18 Cunningham's skinks, which were relocated from 'Lizard Lane' prior to the January 2023 Auckland flood.

In 2025, the zoo will welcome frilled-necked dragons, a unique and extraordinary arboreal lizard native to northern Australia.

This will mark the first time these dragons have been showcased in New Zealand.

Currently, visitors can see emus, including Elvis and Ellie-May, and brolga roaming the habitat.

Although the arrival of Eastern grey kangaroos from Australia has been delayed, they are expected to join the zoo's collection later in 2025.

The zoo has also upgraded the entry and exit point of the walkthrough Australian aviary, creating a more spacious and attractive area that improves visitor flow while maintaining the safety and security of the birds.

When visiting the Australia Bush Track habitat, be sure to explore the rest of the track, which features various bird and reptile species, fish, and Tasmanian devils.
