Coasties enjoyed a dry and cool start to ANZAC Day, with temperatures in the mid-teens for Dawn Services.
However, cloudier skies and a risk of rain will affect parts of Northland, and this will gradually spread south as the day progresses.
By Friday afternoon, rain will begin to push south, reaching Auckland by Saturday.
This system brings warm, humid air, so heavy rainfall is a possibility for the region.
MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris explains, “Northland and Auckland may face a wet weekend, and there’s uncertainty around how much rain will fall, so it’s advised to keep up with the latest forecasts.”
Saturday looks to be the wettest day, with rain continuing into Sunday.
Despite the showers, there will still be pockets of sunshine, so outdoor activities may be possible with some flexibility.
For those heading to the Auckland FC match on Sunday evening, expect rain, but hopefully, the weather won’t dampen the supporters' spirits.
Stay updated with the latest MetService forecasts to make sure you're ready for whatever the weekend brings.
