Bicycle Recall Raises Safety ConcernsAvanti Black Thunder And Montari Jnr Recalled

Residents of the Hibiscus Coast are urged to stop riding specific models of Avanti bicycles due to safety concerns.

Sheppard Cycles New Zealand Ltd has issued a recall for the Avanti Black Thunder and Avanti Montari Jnr bikes, sold between 1 July 2020 and 1 August 2024.

The recall follows reports that the ‘NUTT’ branded brakes on these models require frequent servicing to maintain optimal performance.

Failure to service the brakes could lead to a loss of braking power, potentially causing riders to lose control and sustain injuries.

Consumers with these bicycle models are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Sheppard Cycles via phone on 0800 999 499 to arrange for replacement brakes of a different brand.

The recalled bicycles can be identified by the brand, model name, and serial number displayed on the bike.

This recall highlights the importance of regular bicycle maintenance to prevent accidents and ensure rider safety.

For further information and updates, residents can visit the Sheppard Cycles website or contact their local bicycle retail outlet.
