After a significant closure, NZTA confirms that State Highway 1 over the Brynderwyn Hills is set to reopen tonight at 11:59pm.
Roadworkers have tirelessly worked to create a shoulder space, stabilise the hillside, and clear a substantial amount of soil.
While the road is reopening, travellers will notice continued work behind safety barriers.
A final layer of asphalt will be laid in late spring to ensure the road's quality and durability.
The reopening marks a significant milestone in improving the reliability of SH1 for Northland's communities and essential services like freight and tourism.
