Police have arrested two people in connection with the abduction of a woman in Beach Haven on Tuesday night.

Detective Inspector Callum McNeill of Waitematā CIB said the pair were located in central Auckland on Wednesday afternoon.

“We’ve been speaking with them and they are now facing charges. They will appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow,” he said.

A 32-year-old man from Dairy Flat faces serious charges including kidnapping, assault, using a firearm during a crime, and burglary with a firearm.

A 28-year-old woman from Bayview has been arrested on outstanding warrants and a charge of failing to comply with a computer search order.

The investigation is ongoing, but police believe it was a targeted incident.

“Our staff will continue to be visible in Beach Haven for reassurance patrols,” said Detective Inspector McNeill.

Police thanked those who have already assisted with the investigation.

The victim is recovering in hospital from her injuries.

“She has a long road ahead, and we will be speaking with her further about what happened,” Detective Inspector McNeill said.
