Partly cloudy skies, warm and bright here.Wondering if the kids can take new toys outside on Christmas Day?
For the Hibiscus Coast, the current call is partly cloudy with light winds and a high of 25, with sunrise at 5:59am and sunset at 8:42pm, so it should suit most outdoor plans if you keep a quick indoor back-up in mind.
MetService meteorologist Michael Pawley says, “Most North Islanders will be able to get outside to test their new presents on Christmas Day,” but adds that people north of Waikato may want a back-up plan as showers arriving from the north could sprinkle on celebrations.

Looking either side of the big day, Christmas Eve (Wednesday) is forecast to have rain clearing to fine in the afternoon, with strong westerlies easing in the morning, while Boxing Day (Friday) is set for showers, some heavy, easing in the morning, then long fine breaks developing, with northerlies turning westerly in the morning.
It is the sort of stretch where you can pop outside when it is good, then duck in if a shower clips through.
