Never has a pie created such buzz as it does at the annual Bakels Supreme Pie Awards, and this year several Hibiscus Coast bakeries have risen to the occasion.
The 2025 awards attracted around 600 entries from across the country, celebrating the very best in Kiwi pie-making.
Locals will be chuffed to hear that Wild Grain Bakery in Silverdale earned a Gold in the Gourmet Meat category for its Creamy Paua pie, plus a Bronze in Chicken & Vegetables and Highly Commended nods for both Mince & Cheese and Vegetarian.
Over in Milldale, Milldale Bakery took home Gold in the highly competitive Steak & Cheese category, while nearby Dairy Flat Bakery nabbed a Silver for its Potato Top and Highly Commended in Steak & Cheese.
Whangaparaoa’s Bakers Oven was also recognised with a Highly Commended in the Bacon & Egg category.
In the commercial space, Silverdale’s own Dad’s Pies scored Gold in the Commercial/Wholesale category, a proud moment for a local business operating at scale.
For foodies on the Hibiscus Coast, this news means one thing: award-winning pies are just around the corner.
Whether you're after a creamy paua treat or a classic mince and cheese, you don’t need to head far to find the best.
The Supreme Winner overall was Rosedale Bakery & Cafe for its standout Potato Top pie.
