Auckland townhouses lift totals, stand-alone lags behind.New home consents rose 7% to 35,969 in the year ended November 2025, with multi-unit builds leading the lift, Stats NZ says.
“In the year to November 2025 multi-unit homes drove the increase in new homes consented,” economic indicators spokesperson Michelle Feyen said.
Townhouses, flats, and units rose 9.6% to 15,643.
Apartments jumped 49% to 2,647.
Stand-alone house consents rose 3.6% to 16,388.
Retirement village units fell 26% to 1,291.
Auckland continued to take a large share of new consents, especially townhouses, flats, and units.
November 2025 was up too. There were 3,517 new homes consented, up 14% on November 2024.
In seasonally adjusted terms, consents rose 2.8% in November 2025 after a 0.7% fall in October 2025.
On the Hibiscus Coast, one local example is Precise on the Melia project in Stanmore Bay.
It’s next to the Hibiscus Coast RSA and, when completed, is set to include 60 properties, including duplexes, terrace homes, and 30 stand-alone houses.
