Six hectares of land was purchased in Wainui East to build a resort-type retirement village.

Summerset Holdings purchased the six hectares and resource consent was granted in 2021 to build the Summerset Milldale retirement village. 

Once complete, it will have 220 independent homes, including villas and apartments.

Construction is underway in Waiwai Drive, a subdivision of Milldale. 

It will be built on the land which follows the gentle course of the Waterloo Stream.

In the village will a wide range of care facilities, including high-class memory care. 

The retirement village is being built for the resident's environment and they will have access to a range of quality facilities including a café, hair salon, indoor swimming and spa pool, recreational areas (a bowling green and exercise area), a residents’ workshop and communal vegetable gardens.  

The village will also feature family-friendly outdoor facilities including a barbeque area and a children’s play area for when the grandchildren come to visit. 

According to Nicola Redmond, Village Sales Manager, there are several people enquiring about the quality homes in the safe and secure gated community village.
