Council seek Coasties feedback on representation reviewLocals urged to give feedback on council proposal.

Coasties are encouraged to provide feedback on Auckland Council's proposal for a review of representation, which is now open for submissions.

Visit akhaveyoursay.nz/represent to learn more about the proposed changes and submit their feedback until 4 pm on Thursday, 8 August.

The council aims to maintain the current number of wards and councillors but proposes adjusting some ward boundaries in central and north Auckland.

“Auckland Council has been around for nearly fifteen years now, and it’s timely to get your views on how our elected member structure could improve. We know it’s a pretty complicated machine from the outside, so do check out the background information and feel free to contact your local reps for a chat too,” said Councillor Julie Fairey, chair of the Joint Governance Working Party.

After the consultation closes on 8 August, the council will review the feedback and provide an opportunity for submitters to be heard in September.

Necessary changes will then be made before a final proposal is published in October.

Aucklanders in areas affected by boundary and subdivision changes are especially encouraged to participate, as these changes could shift their representation.

The council aims to ensure the structure remains fair and effective, keeping pace with Auckland’s growth.
