Police have closed East Coast Road near Stillwater, Auckland, after a single-vehicle crash just after 3pm.

The closure is between Wilks Road and Bawden Road.

Police say one person has serious injuries and is being treated by ambulance services.

Motorists are being told the road will be closed for over an hour, with detours in place.

For Hibiscus Coast drivers who use East Coast Road, expect delays in that Stillwater stretch this afternoon.
