When you head to bed tonight, don’t forget to nudge the clock forward by one hour.
Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00am on Sunday, 28 September, which means we’ll all wake up to brighter evenings.
The tradition goes back to 1895, when George Hudson, an entomologist, first floated the idea of seasonal time changes.
He wanted more light for insect hunting after work.
People laughed then, but his idea eventually stuck.
By 1927, the Summer Time Act had made Daylight Saving official.
This year, the clocks will stay forward until 3:00am on Sunday, 5 April 2026.
That gives Coasties months of golden evenings to enjoy.
So, before you turn in tonight, push those clocks forward.
