Driver Charged After Car Crashes Into Albany HouseCar vs. House.

A 44-year-old man will appear in North Shore District Court on Thursday following an incident in which his vehicle collided with a house in Albany, resulting in the car being suspended three metres above the ground.

Emergency services were called to Fairview Avenue around 7.51pm last night after reports of the crash.

Acting Road Policing Manager for Waitematā, Acting Inspector Warwick Stainton, said the car was found precariously positioned between a house and a retaining wall.

“Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) had to secure the vehicle before we could safely extract the driver,” Stainton explained.

“Fortunately, he was uninjured, but there was significant damage to the property.”

Stainton emphasised the importance of not driving after drinking.

“Impaired driving endangers everyone on the road. This incident has caused extensive damage to a family home that could have been avoided with a simple decision to use a taxi.”

The man faces charges of driving with excess breath alcohol and dangerous driving.
