Environmental group happy at Penlink site visitMembers of the Penlink Environment Community Coalition (PECC) on the Penlink construction site.

The Penlink Environment Community Coalition (PECC) visited the Penlink construction site so they can get a deeper understanding of the project.

PECC is made up of Forest and Bird, Restore Hibiscus and Bays, Friends of Okura Bush, and Long Bay Okura Great Park Society.

The visit by the coalition group was to provide them with a deeper understanding of how they are ensuring the project is carried out, in an environmentally responsible manner.

The PECC members received an environmental update covering an overview of the project, the scope of work for the season, archaeological investigations, critter news and more about the erosion and sediment controls on the construction site.

The team also provided data on the recent weather events and how the site was affected by the stormy events earlier in the year.

Fortunately, the site fared well due to the erosion and sediment controls already in place and working as they should.

Questions were also asked as well as feedback and suggestions were given on the project’s environmental standards.

The site visit was a step towards building stronger project outcomes that both the Penlink project team and PECC are happy with.
