Coasties looking for a festive way to kick off the school holidays might want to head north to Warkworth.
This Saturday, the Mahurangi Winter Festival of Lights is set to light up Wharf and Baxter Streets with music, colour, and family fun.
It’s become a much-loved tradition for families after something special without the big-city price tag.
Entry is free, the vibe is friendly, and there’s plenty to enjoy for all ages.
This year’s entertainment includes the return of crowd favourite ZakTakular and headliner family band Rumpus Machine.
There’s also a brand-new Giant Inflatable Maze joining the ever-popular Giant Slide.
Add to that a Tunnel of Lights, food trucks, amusement rides, and a dazzling laser light show to top off the night, and you’ve got something for everyone.
Festival Committee Chairman Murray Chapman says the heart of the event is the community.
“We wanted to create something special, and seeing everyone come together and enjoy it makes it all worthwhile.”
Thanks to generous local sponsors and volunteers, the festival keeps costs down so families can enjoy a night out without the pressure.
So grab a jacket, rally the family, and head out for a night of lights, laughs, and local love.
