Fieldays 2025 Opens TodayMassive agricultural expo returns to Mystery Creek.

If you’ve got gumboots, this is your week.

Fieldays 2025 kicks off today at Mystery Creek, just a couple of hours south of the Hibiscus Coast, and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.

Running from 11 to 14 June, Fieldays is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest agricultural event and draws a crowd of farmers, innovators, educators, and industry leaders from around the globe.

This year’s theme, Your Place, celebrates the sense of ownership and connection many feel toward the event.

“We kept hearing the same thing, Fieldays feels like home for four days every year,” says Brett Beagley from the New Zealand National Fieldays Society. “It’s more than an event. It’s a community.”

For Coasties, especially those with ties to farming, machinery, trades, or agribusiness, Fieldays is a goldmine.

Over 1,200 exhibitors will showcase everything from cutting-edge technology to hands-on tools, including big-ticket items like tractors, which may now be more affordable thanks to a new government tax incentive allowing businesses to deduct 20% of equipment costs immediately.

There’s also plenty on offer for families.

The Fieldays Family Fun Zone, lawnmower races, One Big Dig, and Super Saturday discounts give the event broad appeal beyond agriculture.

Key hubs include:

  • Rural Advocacy Hub, featuring discussions with Parliamentary Ministers
  • Innovation, Careers & Education, Forestry and Health Hubs
  • Tent Talks in partnership with the University of Waikato
  • Drone Zone and a special spotlight on wool

With sustainability top of mind, organisers are urging visitors to use Park & Ride or the free buses to reduce congestion and emissions.

From a Coastie perspective, it’s a great time to explore ideas, innovations, and opportunities that could benefit Hibiscus Coast businesses, especially those in landscaping, contracting, transport, and sustainable food production.

With new tech and smarter tools on display, even urban Coasties might leave Fieldays thinking differently about how innovation on the land can shape life back home.
