The removal of the Auckland fuel tax has led to a noticeable drop in petrol prices, with locals noticing the difference at the pump.
According to the Gaspy App, as of 8 am this morning, the cheapest petrol can be found at Gull Millwater, where prices for 95 octane are $2.947 per litre, and 91 octane is priced at $2.747 per litre.
Diesel at this station is $2.067 per litre.
In comparison, BP Millwater offers 98 octane at $3.229, 95 octane at $3.109, and 91 octane at $2.929 per litre, while diesel is priced at $2.279 per litre.
Nearby BP Silverdale lists its prices for 98 octane at $3.249, 95 octane at $3.129, and 91 octane at $2.809 per litre, with diesel at $2.119 per litre.
Pak ’n Save Silverdale has also emerged as a cost-effective option, with 95 octane at $2.937 and 91 octane at $2.687 per litre.
Diesel there is priced at $2.077 per litre.
Z Silverdale prices its 95 octane at $2.939 and 91 octane at $2.749 per litre, with diesel at $2.059 per litre.
An AA spokesperson advises, “It pays to shop around,” as prices vary significantly between different stations even within close proximity.
The removal of the fuel tax has been a welcome relief for many Coasties, helping make a noticeable difference in daily expenses.
