Get your hands dirty for a good cause in StillwaterHibiscus Coast residents can get their hands dirty at a planting day at the Stillwater Reserve in July.

The Friends of Okura Bush and the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board are looking for volunteers to get their hands dirty at a planting event at the Stillwater Reserve.

The planting day, from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Sunday 2nd July, promises to be a fulfilling day of planting native trees and shrubs, to restore and protect the precious ecosystem of the Stillwater Reserv

With local Coasties’ help, we can create a thriving habitat for our native flora and fauna.

The organisers are appealing to volunteers to make sure they come prepared so they are safe and comfortable: wear sturdy covered boots or shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather conditions, whether sunny or rainy.

Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the day too.

Bring spades and gloves along, but people must not worry if they don’t have them as the organisers will provide you with a pair of gloves and a spade to use during the event.

Due to the ongoing efforts to protect parks from kauri dieback, the organisers are asking that volunteers bring only clean footwear and equipment.

This helps prevent the spread of this harmful disease and ensures the health of our kauri trees and other native plants.

Together, we can make a real difference in preserving the natural beauty of our local environment.

The Stillwater Reserve is situated at 1a Duck Creek Road, Stillwater.
