Orewa College Principal, Greg Pierce, has officially announced his resignation, effective at the end of the current school year.
After a three-year tenure at Orewa College, Pierce has accepted the position of Executive Principal at Brisbane State High School, commencing in the 2024 school year.
Adam McLeery, Chairperson of the Orewa College Board of Trustees, expressed his admiration for Pierce's seamless integration into the role during his time at the college.
McLeery acknowledged the challenges faced over the past three years, citing the turbulent times, including adverse weather events and the global pandemic.
He commended Pierce's steady leadership, sense of humour, and unwavering commitment to going above and beyond in critical situations.
Highlighting Pierce's impact on national education, McLeery mentioned specific instances such as the college's effective response to adverse weather events, where community support played a crucial role in minimizing disruptions for students.
Following Pierce's departure, Anna Kenny, Orewa College Associate Principal, will step in as the Acting Principal for Term 1, 2024.
The Board of Trustees will initiate a recruitment process to select a permanent Principal for the college.
