Gulf Harbour ferry to have two sailings a dayThe ferry will be replaced with buses, which will cause more congestion on our roads.

The infamous Gulf Harbour ferry will have limited sailings per day from next month.

According to Auckland Transport, the Gulf Harbour ferry will only operate from Monday to Friday from Monday, 2nd October.

The morning sailings from the local marina to the city will be at 7am and 9am.

The ferry will leave downtown Auckland at 6am and 8am.

The afternoon ferry will leave downtown Auckland at 5.15pm and 7.15pm.

The ferry will sail from Gulf Harbour to the city at 6.15pm and 8.15pm.

Auckland Transport will provide additional bus services to support ferry services impacted by the changes.

These replacement buses are called Ferry Bus Gulf Harbour (FBGH) and can be caught at Manly Plaza Shopping Mall as well as Fanshawe Street in the city.

The alternate bus routes is route 988 to Whangaparāoa Road, then route 982 or 983 to Hibiscus Coast Station then NX1 to Lower Albert Street.

Auckland Transport updated the timetable at the end of August without notifying or asking regular commuters, who need to get into the city for work on time.

Due to the constant cancellations of the ferry service, people are being forced to use their cars again, causing congestion on the roads.

Auckland Transport is also proposing to cancel the much-needed ferry service in 2028, two years after Penlink opens.

The Gulf Harbour Ferry Facebook group is working hard to save the service as it is essential for the area.

It only takes 50 minutes to sail from Gulf Harbour into the city, whereas an hour and a half via bus or car.
