A name suppression hearing relating to the trio charged over the death of a woman found in Gulf Harbour has taken place at the High Court in Auckland.

The body of 70-year-old Shulai Wang was found wrapped in a black rubbish bag in the water on 12 March, 2024.

A man and two women were charged last November for her kidnapping and manslaughter.

The man and one of the women also faced additional charges for perverting the course of justice, and giving false information to immigration officers.

Their lawyer David Jones KC argued for continued name suppression on grounds of prejudice to a fair trial and extreme hardship.

Justice Downs has reserved his decision.
