Coasties are encouraged to participate in the consultation process for Auckland Council's Long-term Plan 2024-2034, which is now open until March 28th.

In an effort to fortify Auckland's resilience and address substantial fiscal challenges, the proposed Long-term Plan focuses on judicious spending while delivering essential services.

This year's approach emphasises a balanced strategy, utilizing existing resources and allocating funds judiciously.

Residents should be prepared for tough decisions as the central proposal suggests rate increases for the average value residential property as follows:

  • 7.5% in the first year
  • 3.5% in the second year
  • 8% in the third year
  • No more than 3.5% annually thereafter

However, Aucklanders have alternatives to consider.

The Council is actively seeking public opinions on whether to amplify or reduce the proposed rates.

Community engagement is vital in shaping the final decisions.

To comprehend the intricacies of the proposal and the available options, Aucklanders are urged to peruse the consultation document available at akhaveyoursay.nz/ourplan.

Familiarising yourself with the details will empower you to provide informed feedback.

The council is keen to hear your voice through various channels, including online submissions, email, postal feedback, and participation in the 'Have Your Say' events.
