Metservice says the heavy rain watch for Auckland, specifically for areas about and north of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, remains until 4 pm today.
Strong northeasterlies gusting up to 80 km/h are expected to ease off by evening.
Rainfall, possibly heavy at times, is forecasted to clear to fine spells later this afternoon, accompanied by isolated showers.
There is also a risk of thunderstorms developing this afternoon, bringing further weather disruptions.
The weather conditions are expected to improve by the evening, providing some relief from the heavy rain and strong winds experienced earlier in the day.
