Highway closures to impact Hibiscus CoastRoad maintenance causes detours and noise.

State Highway 1 (SH1) will undergo maintenance between Orewa and Oteha Valley Road, resulting in full southbound closures and ramp restrictions on Sunday, June 23, and Monday, June 24.

These closures are scheduled from 9 pm to 5 am but are weather dependent, which may affect the planned dates.

On Sunday, June 23, the section from Silverdale interchange to Oteha Valley Road will be closed southbound, affecting the Silverdale southbound on-ramp and the Oteha Valley Road southbound off-ramp.

Motorists are advised to follow the detour via Dairy Flat Highway and Oteha Valley Road.

Increased noise levels are expected due to road cutting and vegetation control.

The following night, Monday, June 24, the closure will extend from Orewa interchange to Silverdale interchange.

The affected ramps will include Orewa (Grand Drive) southbound on-ramp, Millwater Parkway Interchange (Wainui Road) southbound on-ramp, and Silverdale southbound off-ramp.

Drivers should follow the detour via Grand Drive, West Hoe Road, Centreway Road, and Twin Coast Discovery Highway to the Silverdale southbound on-ramp.

Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will need to use the Puhoi southbound off-ramp and take Old SH1 and Twin Coast Discovery Highway.

Noise levels will again increase due to maintenance activities.

The NZ Transport Agency urges locals to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the recommended detours to avoid delays.
