Auckland Transport (AT) is enhancing safety and accessibility around the Gulf Harbour Ferry Terminal following requests from Coasties.
The upgrades aim to improve the bus stop area, benefiting both passengers and bus drivers.
Work is set to begin at the southern car park adjacent to the ferry terminal.
The project will focus on installing new shelters, converting existing parking spaces, and adding accessible mobility features.
Key improvements include a new bus stop shelter and converting a drop-off zone into a formal bus stop, ensuring safer boarding.
AT also plans to install four new mobility parking spaces, each extended by 1.8 metres to accommodate larger mobility vans.
A new footpath will connect these spaces with the bus stop and ferry.
Additional features include pram ramps for improved accessibility and new bench seating near the bus stop and drop-off bay.
These upgrades are designed to enhance access to public transport and offer better shelter for passengers waiting for their next bus.
Auckland Transport encourages locals to share their feedback on the project by emailing [email protected] before 27 September.
