Kindness message inspired by Kabosu lives on.Hibiscus Coast locals can expect a cheerful theme today.
Sunday, November 2 is International Doge Day, a light prompt to “Do Only Good Everyday.”

The story traces back to Kabosu, a Shiba Inu born in 2005 and adopted in 2008 by teacher and blogger Atsuko Sato, whose 2010 blog photos became the meme many of us recognise.
Reddit users helped the playful “Doge” name stick and the message spread well beyond the internet.
Kabosu died in 2024 at 14, but the spirit of the meme carries on in small, practical kindness.
Here on the Hibiscus Coast that could mean checking on an elderly neighbour, picking up litter on the Beach, offering a patient wave in traffic, or adding a friendly comment to local posts.
It’s not about big gestures.
It’s simple habits that brighten someone’s day.
If you mark the day online, keep it upbeat and local.
A quick photo, a kind word, or a shout-out for someone doing good work fits the brief.
Locals might see extra smiles on morning walks.
