Job Offer Scam Alert: Trade Me Warns CustomersScammers impersonating Trade Me Jobs recruiters are targeting users via SMS—here’s how to stay safe.

Trade Me has issued a warning to customers about fraudulent SMS messages impersonating Trade Me Jobs recruiters.

The company confirmed that these messages are not legitimate and urged recipients to take immediate precautions.

If you or someone you know receives a text message from an alleged Trade Me Jobs recruiter, Trade Me advises:

  • Do not respond to the message.
  • Report TXT spam to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA).
  • Delete the message to avoid any further engagement.

For those who have already responded and shared personal information, Trade Me recommends seeking advice from the New Zealand Police on the appropriate next steps.

Scam messages like these are designed to deceive recipients into providing sensitive details, so staying cautious and verifying job opportunities directly through official Trade Me channels is essential.
