Northland, a region steeped in history and vibrant culture, is on the lookout for new police recruits.
Constable Paulo Montino, from Mid Far North, and Sergeant Joe Te Ao, serving Whangārei Kaipara, have taken up the challenge to bolster the police force and are eagerly awaiting your interest.
Constable Montino, a six-year veteran with experience in the Public Safety Team (PST) and Driver Impairment Team (DIT), is excited to motivate individuals, especially those with untapped potential.
Sergeant Te Ao, a 20-year police force veteran with a decade's service in Northland, brings valuable recruiting experience, having worked with Auckland schools.
His ties to Hokianga through his mother make him a unique asset to the Northland team.
Under the Northland 2028 program, Inspector Dene Begbie, Acting District Commander Northland, emphasises the need for focused police recruitment efforts in the region.
"As part of Northland 2028, these two dedicated officers have assumed recruitment roles. We approach recruiting differently, valuing the concept of whānau policing whānau. Our officers have deep community ties, fostering a commitment to service," says Inspector Begbie.
Northland, while presenting its own set of challenges, stands out for its distinctive approach to community-oriented policing.
Inspector Begbie highlights the region's appeal, stating, "Many of our staff have chosen to move to Northland from other districts."
For those interested, Constable Montino and Sergeant Te Ao are reachable via email at [email protected] or [email protected], respectively.

Northland Police welcomes individuals with diverse backgrounds, encouraging them to be part of a force making a positive impact in the community.
