Instead of children’s construction toys on beaches, diggers are now a common sight on Orewa Beach as the Auckland Council is replenishing the sand.

The beach was badly affected by coastal erosion and the extreme weather events that hit us this year.

Access to some areas of the beach will be limited between 7am and 6pm weekdays, until 24 November.

Access to the beach outside these times will be available.

The affected areas are Orewa Beach Reserve and the area from Kinloch Reserve to Kohu Street.

The large work vehicles will be on the beach at various times, so those on the beach - adults, children and even dogs, are asked to be vigilant.
