Lots to see and do on Whangaparaoa Coastal TrailThe Whangaparaoa Coastal Trail is a 14 km walk along the beautiful Whangaparaoa peninsula. You can either walk, run or cycle the trail.

The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting and outdoors is calling!

Summer is here and one thing on your bucket list is waiting for you - walking, running or cycling the spectacular Whangaparaoa Coastal Trail.

The trail showcases the beautiful Whangaparaoa peninsula, which is Maori for “Bay of Whales”.

The peninsula stretches 11km into the Hauraki Gulf and is sprinkled with sandy beaches and amazing views.

On the peninsula is the Whangaparaoa Coastal Trail - a 14km stretch of trail that needs your footprint on.

Locals and visitors can walk, run or cycle the trail in either direction, whether arriving by ferry into Gulf Harbour or New World Whangaparaoa.

Along the trail, you walk along beaches, enjoy wonderful views and find parks and playgrounds for the kids.

The Whangaparaoa Coastal Trail promises to be an exciting mix of fun, culture, history, deals and activities.

There are eight “check-in points” where you’ll find QR codes that will give you information and history about the area, links to competitions and specials from local businesses and enjoy our interactive AR (Augmented Reality) adventures!

These check-in points are at the Gulf Harbour marina, Gulf Harbour village, Matakatia, Manly Village, Big Manly, Coast Whangaparaoa, Stanmore Bay and New World.

After visiting these AR points, upload your selfie to the coastal trail’s Instagram page with hashtag #whangaparaoacoastaltrail and you could win a prize.

There is also an AR Scavenger Hunt at four of the spots where shops or businesses are located.

If you solve the puzzle, you could also win a prize.

The coastal trail was developed by Business Whangaparaoa Inc, whose aim is to showcase the peninsula as a great place to live and work, but also that businesses can prosper without compromising the coastal lifestyle.
