Mahurangi River Search ContinuesExtra crews join police search again today.

It’s hard to stop thinking about a family waiting for news.

Waitematā North Police say the search for a missing man is resuming today at the Mahurangi River near Warkworth, after he was swept away by water on Wednesday.

Senior Sergeant Carl Fowlie says extra resources are being deployed as water levels continued to subside overnight.

Police Search and Rescue is carrying out ground-based searching around the banks of the river, supported by 17 Land Search and Rescue members and a water rescue crew from Fire and Emergency.

A Police drone is also searching from the air, so locals may see teams on the banks and the drone overhead as the operation continues.

Police say they are supporting the man’s family through this difficult time, and they have thanked the agencies assisting in recent days.

For Hibiscus Coast readers following the updates, police say everyone involved remains focused on locating the man on behalf of his family.
