North Police have recovered a vehicle from the Mahurangi River linked to a fatal January incident.

Forty-seven-year-old Tekanimaeu Arobati was washed away in the Mahurangi River on Tuesday, January 21.

He was located in the river three days later on Friday, January 24.

Inspector Nina Pedersen said Police continued searching for the vehicle Mr Arobati had been travelling in at the time.

The Police National Dive Squad was deployed to the Mahurangi River on Wednesday, February 12 to carry out further searches.

Mr Arobati’s Nissan X-Trail was located that afternoon and recovered from the river.
