The Matakana Village Farmers' Market is turning 20, and the community is invited to join in the festivities.

On Saturday, 23 November 2024, from 8 am to 1 pm, the market will host a special morning with unique finds and surprise giveaways.

Live music from local buskers will add to the lively atmosphere.

The anniversary celebration will continue from 1 pm to 4 pm, featuring live music from the Pippi Pickers Band and words from the market's founders at 2 pm.

This special event honours the community that has made the market a cherished gathering place.

The Matakana Village Farmers' Market was established in 2002 by locals Richard and Christine Didsbury, who transformed the old timber yard into a thriving destination.

The market's philosophy emphasises food provenance, with producers selling locally-made products.

Over the years, the market has become a launchpad for several well-known gourmet brands.

Today, Matakana Village boasts beautifully landscaped open spaces, independent specialty shops, and a world-class arthouse cinema complex.
