A devastating fire has destroyed a home on Lees Street in Milldale today, with a parked car in the driveway also engulfed by flames.
Nine fire engines from Fire and Emergency New Zealand were dispatched to the scene, along with police.
While authorities have not confirmed if anyone was home at the time, neighbouring homes may have been affected by the blaze, with some residents reporting smoke damage.
An eyewitness described the rapid spread of the fire, stating that the house was completely engulfed in flames within less than 30 minutes. "It was shocking how quickly it went up," they said.
Despite the swift response, the house and car were destroyed. FENZ’s primary focus was controlling the blaze, and as of now, the cause of the fire has not been determined.
The investigation will begin once fire crews have fully dealt with the situation.
Local residents remain concerned about the potential impact on nearby homes, and Police are continuing to secure the area.
