Millwater Dog Waste ReminderCouncil bylaw sets clear rules for all dog owners.

Nothing ruins a morning walk like finding bagged dog poo left on the berm.

On a stroll in Millwater, two plastic bags of dog droppings were spotted on berms in front of houses, and it is hard to see that as anything but inconsiderate.

Auckland Council’s Dog Management Bylaw is clear: when you are in a public place or premise, dog owners must ensure the immediate removal and disposal of their dog’s faeces, and it must be done in a way that does not cause a nuisance.

The bylaw also notes that if you do not pick up after your dog, you may get a $300 fine.

The practical fix is simple: carry a waste bag, pick it up, then put it in a public rubbish bin or your bin at home.

Small actions like that make a real difference, and they help keep Millwater and the wider Hibiscus Coast streets clean and looking their best.
