Auckland, 15th March 2024 - Minister Simeon Brown unveiled the new Auckland Rail Operations Centre today, marking a significant step towards enhancing rail services in the city.





This central hub will integrate KiwiRail, Auckland Transport, and Auckland One Rail, aiming to bolster service reliability for Auckland commuters.


Acknowledging recent train disruptions, Minister Brown emphasised the necessity for collaborative efforts among rail agencies to ensure punctuality and efficiency.


The consolidation of these entities into a single centre is anticipated to foster closer cooperation and prompt response to network challenges.


Expressing concerns over past service disruptions, Minister Brown announced a review of the Metropolitan Rail Operating Model (MROM) to address coordination issues and adapt to the evolving landscape of metro rail.





He stressed the need for a modernised approach, highlighting the outdated nature of the current model.


The Minister affirmed his commitment to fostering a unified approach among rail operators to deliver dependable services to passengers.


The inauguration of the Auckland Rail Operations Centre signifies a progressive stride towards achieving this objective.
