Mitre10 Silverdale to make historySam Singh, the new store manager of Mitre 10 Silverdale, is excited about the new store opening.

The new and massive Mitre 10 in Silverdale is giving employment to over 100 local residents.

The mega-store is being constructed in the 15-hectare Highgate Business Park on Highgate Parkway, of which Mitre 10 will cover 2.3 hectares (12,000 square meters).

The owner of Mitre 10, Cam Caithness, and the new store manager, Sam Singh, have interviewed hundreds of local residents for various roles at the store.

They are both thrilled about the construction and are looking forward to the store opening its doors (date still to be confirmed).

Various teams in the different departments are working round the clock to ensure everything is in place before the big opening.

The new store will have 6,000 square meters of retail section, 2,000 square meters each for the garden centre and drive-thru section, and 1,500 square meters for the yard.

A Columbus Coffee Cafe and state-of-the-art kiddies' play area will also be on the property.

“We have LED lights which will keep the building cool and warm, and they won’t damage any of the products,” said Cam.

“They are also energy-savers, resulting in the building being environmentally friendly.”

Besides the adverse weather that hit Auckland over the last few months, they have had no serious setbacks.

Cam says the building is very secure, with guards on patrol, and CCTV cameras being installed.

He is super proud that the store is also making history, as it will be the first Mitre 10 in New Zealand to have three floors - with a lunchroom and outdoor deck for the staff being built on the top floor.

Mitre 10 Silverdale intends to not only be a world-class retail store but will be a full range store with over 40,000 items of stock available.

The stock ranges from everything you need for your automotive to your workshop supplies.

Mitre 10 is known for having deep roots in the community and supports a variety of schools, clubs, charities and not-for-profit organisations.

The Highgate Business Park can be regarded as the upcoming industrial estate on the Hibiscus Coast.

The first stage of the park is almost built out.

Once the construction is completed, there will be a variety of different retail, offices, medical, and educational services and a small town centre available.

Future developments around the business park include a road across the SH1 motorway that links to Milldale and a new 200-housing development.
