Police have stepped up patrols at shopping malls across Auckland City in response to a recent rise in jewellery store robberies.
A dedicated team is actively investigating these incidents, which have included violent acts.
"Our staff working at these stores are just doing their jobs," says Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin. "We will continue prioritising patrols at shopping centres for the coming weeks."
Recent Incidents
Police are investigating four separate incidents: a robbery in Newmarket on April 20th, a ram raid in Newmarket on April 12th, an aggravated burglary in St Lukes on April 14th, and an aggravated robbery in Onehunga on April 18th.
Seeking Information
While no arrests have been made yet, detectives are following leads and analysing potential connections between the crimes.
"We believe there may be people with information," says Detective Inspector Baldwin. "No detail is too small. Please come forward if you have any knowledge about these events."
