Motorway improvements prompt overnight closures

New Zealand's Transport Agency, has announced a series of overnight closures on motorways for essential improvements.


These closures, set to occur from May 24th to June 1st, aim to enhance road infrastructure for commuters.


Any work postponed due to adverse weather conditions will be rescheduled to ensure completion before Friday, May 31st, 2024.





The closures will commence at 9 p.m. and conclude at 5 a.m.


During these times, the affected areas will undergo necessary maintenance and upgrades to ensure the safety and efficiency of the motorway network.


On May 26th and 27th, several southbound lanes between Orewa off-ramp and Silverdale on-ramp, alongside related ramps, will be closed.


Concurrently, northbound lanes between Silverdale off-ramp and Orewa on-ramp, along with associated ramps, will also be inaccessible.


Additionally, from May 26th to 29th, closures will affect Oteha Valley Road, with southbound on-ramp and northbound off-ramp closures.


On May 30th, further southbound lane closures will extend from Oteha Valley Road off-ramp to Constellation Drive on-ramp.


Continuing the maintenance efforts, northbound lane closures between Constellation Drive off-ramp and Oteha Valley Road on-ramp are scheduled for May 29th, alongside closures for related ramps.


The closures encompass various on-ramps and off-ramps, including Greville Road, Constellation Drive, Onewa Road, Curran Street, and Stafford Road.





These closures will occur intermittently from May 26th to June 1st, between the hours of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.


Waka Kotahi advises motorists to follow the signposted detours during the closure periods to minimise disruptions and ensure safety.


These overnight closures signify proactive measures undertaken by NZTA is to maintain and improve the functionality of Auckland's motorways.


By addressing necessary repairs and upgrades during non-peak hours, the agency aims to minimise inconvenience to commuters while enhancing the overall quality of the road network.
