Movember Kicks Off on the Hibiscus CoastChanging the face of Men's health

Today marks the start of Movember, a global movement focused on tackling the health crisis affecting men worldwide.

As Coasties, we're encouraged to join in and support this vital cause.

Men's health is in crisis, with men dying 4.5 years earlier than women on average, largely due to preventable reasons.

Prostate cancer affects around 10.8 million men globally, while testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men.

Furthermore, one man dies by suicide every minute, accounting for 69% of all suicides.

Movember addresses these issues through groundbreaking projects worldwide.

By growing moustaches and engaging in activities, participants – known as "Mo Bros" and "Mo Sisters" – raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health challenges.

This annual event, running from November 1 to 30, aims to spark conversations about critical health topics.

Locals can participate by growing moustaches, taking on physical challenges, or hosting events.

"Movember is uniquely placed to address this crisis on a global scale," says the organisation. "We fund groundbreaking projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change."
