A multi-vehicle crash blocked the northbound lanes of the Northern Motorway near Dairy Flat around 2:50pm.

Police were alerted after a vehicle was stolen in Point Chevalier and pursued to the motorway, where the collision occurred.

The section of the motorway between Oteha Valley and Dairy Flat is currently closed, and police investigations are underway.

The Serious Crash Unit is on-site, and traffic diversions are in place to assist motorists.

Expect long delays.

NZTA recommends, exit at Oteha Valley Off-Ramp and detour via East Coast Hwy or Dairy Flats Hwy.
