Auckland Transport (AT) is delivering a new bus service for the new suburb of Milldale in North Auckland.
From this Sunday 20 November, the 989 bus service will connect Milldale with the Hibiscus Coast Station.
The bus will run seven days a week, every 30 minutes from 6am until 7.30pm.
The service will be run by Bayes Coachlines who are confident they have enough drivers in their local team to run the service to the timetable.
“This is great news for Milldale residents,” says Rodney Local Board’s Deputy Chair Louise Johnston.
“Milldale is growing fast and for residents, of all ages, being able to catch a bus directly to the Hibiscus Coast Station at Silverdale will be brilliant.”
Dave Hilson, AT’s Principal Service Network Planner, says the current nationwide driver shortage isn’t being felt across every bus operator in the same way.
“Bayes – who operate in North Auckland – have enough drivers for this new service and we know the growing community of Milldale will really appreciate this new offering.
“This service enables residents’ easy access to Hibiscus Coast bus station. From here, a range of connections is possible – including the Silverdale shopping centre, Orewa, Whangaparaoa, North Shore, and the City Centre.
“This is quite a short route, which is only the start for Milldale customers. AT will look to expand the bus services in the area as it grows,” Mr Hilson says.
