Night-time closures on State Highway 1 plannedMotorists advised to plan ahead for maintenance works.

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) has announced upcoming maintenance work on sections of State Highway 1 (SH1) around Auckland.


The work will take place at night to minimise disruption, but motorists are still advised to plan their journeys accordingly.





Works to Affect Johnstone Hill Tunnels, Silverdale and Warkworth


The maintenance schedule includes:


Johnstone Hill Tunnels: Lane restrictions from Sunday, March 17th to Friday, March 22nd (between 9pm and 5am).


Traffic will flow in both directions, but drivers should expect delays and reduced speeds.



Silverdale area:


Silverdale overbridge (local road): Full closure in both directions on Sunday, March 17th (between 9pm and 5am).


Detours will be in place for affected ramps.


Wilks Road, Dairy Flat (local road): Stop/go traffic management on Monday, March 18th (between 9pm and 5am).





SH1 between Silverdale and Warkworth:


Northbound closure: Tuesday, March 19th (between 9pm and 5am).


Several northbound ramps will be closed.


Detour via Hibiscus Coast Highway and Old State Highway 1 recommended.


Southbound closure: Wednesday, March 20th (between 9pm and 5am).


Several southbound ramps will be closed.


Detour via Old State Highway 1 and Hibiscus Coast Highway recommended.
