NZ Exports Rise StronglyTwo-way trade reaches $61.2b in December quarter.

New Zealand exports rose to $29.2b in the December quarter, up $2.2b on the same period last year.

The figures, released yesterday, also show two-way trade increased to $61.2b for the quarter.

Trade and Investment Minister Hon Todd McClay said, “New Zealand exporters are winning in highly competitive global markets,” and said the results were a “testament” to farmers and growers.

Of the top exports, dairy was up 10%, tourism was up 9.4%, and meat was up 21.4% compared with the same period last year.

One in four New Zealand jobs is linked to trade.

McClay said the Government is focused on backing exporters, reducing barriers at the border, strengthening its network of free trade agreements, and ensuring businesses have the confidence and capability to succeed internationally.
