A warning has been issued by Swimsafe for beachgoers at Orewa Beach after reports of swimmers experiencing itchy rashes.
The rashes are believed to be caused by sea bather's eruption, a condition triggered by the stings of certain sea anemones and thimble jellyfish.
This itchy rash typically appears on covered skin shortly after swimming in the sea.
Lifeguards are currently on duty at Orewa Beach, with hours of operation today from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution when swimming.
For locals and visitors planning to visit Orewa Beach, being aware of the potential for these rashes can help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
