Orewa Library to close for major renovationsOrewa Library closing for nine months from March next year.

Major renovations at the Orewa Library are overdue, so it will be closed for several months as the building is upgraded.

The library will be closed for nine months from March 2024, when the old building will be transformed into a modern community space.

The library services will still continue from the Orewa Community Centre, with the same opening hours and access to council services.

The renovation project includes the addition of a mezzanine floor and the creation of a meeting room suitable for various purposes, such as local board meetings.

The funding for this project is provided by the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board.

The Orewa Library is one of the most popular libraries in Auckland and was opened in mid-1996.

As the number of visitors has increased over the years, the staff soon found that the area was not large enough for the growing numbers.
