Auckland Emergency Management will run a tsunami siren test in Orewa at 12pm today.
You’ll hear a short mix of tones and a clear voice message saying, “This is a test”.
It’s just a routine check to make sure the system works in case of a real emergency.
No action is needed, and there’s no cause for concern.
The sirens will sound briefly at midday, then stop.
If you’re new to the Hibiscus Coast, it’s a handy time to think about your nearest safe route inland, just in case.
Stay safe, stay prepared.
